Galatasaray sinks Oldenburg to go 2-0
Galatasaray Doga Sigorta Istanbul rallied from an early double-digit deficit to down the visiting EWE Baskets Oldenburg 92-79 in a Group D clash on Wednesday. Galatasaray improved to a 2-0 record and a share of first place, while Oldenburg dropped to 0-2. The visitors held an 11-point lead after the first 10 minutes, but Galatasaray erased that deficit before halftime, then pulled away to 64-49 in the third quarter and never relinquished the lead. Zach Auguste collected 18 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks, while Aaron Harrison had 17 points and 8 rebounds for Galatasaray. Lazeric Jones added 13 points, Yigits Arslan and Zach Moore 11 each for the winners. Rickey Paulding led Oldenburg with 17 points, while Gerry Blakes and Rasid Mahalbasic scored 16 apiece. Braydon Hobbs had 11 points and 7 assists in defeat.
Mahalbasic got Oldenburg started with 8 points before Philipp Schwethelm's triple opened a 6-13 lead. A three-point play from Robin Amaize got Oldenburg to a double-digit lead, 11-22 late in the first quarter, but Auguste and Arslan had a strong start to the second for the hosts. They combined for 10 points, which along with a triple from Jones erased the deficit, helping Galatasaray take a 33-32 lead. Harrison scored 8 straight points, including a triple, which Arslan followed with a three-pointer of his own as Galatasaray led 41-37 at halftime. The hosts opened the third quarter with more intensity, and triples from Harrison, Jones and Goksenin Koksal capped a 13-2 run to a 54-42 margin. Koksal hit another three and Greg Whittington had a three-point play to extend it to 64-49, but Paulding kept Oldenburg in range. The hosts took 71-56 lead into the final quarter, but in just over 2 minutes of the fourth, Blakes scored 6 points and Schwethelm nailed a triple as the visitors closed within 72-66. The hosts were without field goal for more than 4 minutes to start the quarter, but Jones snapped the drought with a three, and Koksal hit a triple at 86-71, after which Galatasaray never looked back.

The hosts dished 25 assists, which is tied for the third most in the club's EuroCup history. The club record of 30 dates to December 2012.
Hidden contributors
Galatasaray had seven players score 90 of its 92 points in this game. In addition to five players in double figures, two players really stepped up when needed most. Greg Whittington muscled his way to 9 points, and Goksenin Koksal hit key three-pointers, also finishing with 9 for the game.
Rebounding to victory
Galatasaray outrebounded the visitors 35-23, and had twice as many offensive rebounds (10) than Oldenburg (5). In the key second and third quarters combined, Galatasaray had a 17-7 rebounding advantage.
