FoxTown Cantu stayed undefeated in Group A by downing Le Mans Sarthe Basket 65-77 on the road on Wednesday. Cantu went up to 2-0 and ties for first place with Telenet Ostend, while Le Mans dropped to 1-1. Joe Ragland paced the winners with 23 points on 3-of-3 three-point shots. Pietro Aradori added 13, Maarty Leunen had 12 while Adrian Uter got 11 and a game-high 8 rebounds for Cantu. JP Batista led Le Mans with 14 points but none of his teammates scored in double digits. A three-pointer by Antoine Eito tied the game, 16-16, late in the third quarter. Cantu went on an 0-11 run to get the lead for good, 16-27. The guests boosted their margin to 43-57 after 30 minutes but Rey Terry and Alain Koffi brought Le Mans as close as 56-59 early in the fourth quarter. It didn't last long, as Ragland, Uter and Aradori made sure that Cantu returned home as one of the two undefeated teams in this group.
Batista got Le Mans going with 4 unanswered points but Ragland singlehandly kept Cantu within 6-5. Charles Kahudi struck from downtown but Leunen had 5 points in a 0-7 run which gave Cantu its first lead, 9-12. Batista kept pacing Le Mans and a three-pointer by Eito tied it at 16-16, but Leunen put Cantu back ahead, 16-18, after 10 minutes. Uter and Marcel Jones combined for 9 unanswered points which gave the guests a double-digit lead, 16-27, after an 0-11 run. Pape Sy and Eito combined for all points in a 7-0 Le Mans run but Ragland and Aradori gave Cantu some fresh air at 25-32. A three-pointer by Roberto Rullo and a layup by Ragland boosted the guests' lead to 29-37 at halftime. Leunen downed a triple immediately after the break and Michael Jenkins soon gave Cantu a 31-42 margin. DaShaun Wood buried a three-pointer but Aradori had 5 points in a 0-7 run which broke the game open, 34-49. Aradori stayed on fire and back-to-back baskets by Jenkins and Jone kept the guests way ahead, 43-57, after 30 minutes. Terry struck twice from downtown, Pape Sy copied him and a layup by Koffi made it a three-point game, 56-59, after a 13-2 run. Cantu found a go-to guy in Ragland, who got help from Aradori and Uter to give their team some fresh air, 56-66. Cantu soon boosted its margin to 58-71 and did not find much trouble to add a good-as-gold road win.
