Turow hits 13 triples, claims first place in Group L

Using another fantastic offensive display, PGE Turow Zgorzelec secured a first place in Group L with 104-93 victory over Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius. It’s fourth consecutive win for Turow which improved it to 4-1, while Rytas drops to 2-3 and will fight for the second place in the group with Telenet Ostend next week. Turow, which shot 13-for-31 from three-point land, took the lead for good with a strong finish of the first half before finishing the third quarter with a 21-4 spurt that broke the game wide open. Damian Kulig led Turow with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals, while Mardy Collins had 21 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assist and 4. Michal Chylinski, Vlad Moldoveanu and Tony Taylor each scored 13 points in victory. Martynas Gecevicius scored most of his 6 three-point shots in the fourth quarter, finishing with 22 points for Rytas. Mindaugas Lukauskis scored 15, and Antanas Kavaliauskas 12 points for the visitors who hit 7 of their 12 three-pointers in the fourth quarter.

Chylinski opened the game with 8 straight points, including a triple-plus-free throw for 8-5. Gecevicius hit from downtown, before Kavaliauskas scored a pair of baskets for Rytas. A fastbreak layup from Gecevicius made it 12-18, but Kulig hit a triple, while Collins, Tony Taylor and Chris Wright all scored from close range to make it 25-25 at the end of the first quarter. Leslie Travis and Zygimantas Janavicius kept Rytas in front early in the second quarter, but Filip Dylewicz scored 6 points, including a three-pointer for 38-35. Teams briefly traded leads, before Moldoveanu hit a three, and followed it with 4-for-4 from the foul line to help Turow to 49-43 halftime lead.
