CEZ Basketball Nymburk downed Cibona Zagreb 84-76 to improve to 1-1 in Group A. Cibona remained winless through two games. Rashid Mahalbasic paced the winners with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 7 fouls drawn for a performance index rating of 33. Rado Rancik added 20 points and Scott Reynolds 13 for Nymburk. D.J. Strawberry posted 18 points with 8 boards for Cibona, Jerel Blassingame tallied 16 points with 11 assists and Dario Saric finished with 13 points and 7 rebounds in defeat.

A Blassingame jumper and Rancik three gave Cibona an 11-13 margin at the midway point of the first quarter. Strawberry capped a 5-0 run from the foul line for 11-18 before Mahlbasic’s dunk put the home team in front 21-20. The scoring was tied at 29-29, but an 11-2 run for the hosts capped by a Reynolds layup gave the hosts a 40-31 lead. The score settled at 41-35 at halftime. A 15-4 run by the guests capped by Strawberry gave a 45-50 margin to Cibona early in the third quarter. Rado Rancik put the hosts in front 52-50. Matt Janning’s jumper gave a 56-59 cushion to Cibona, but Mahlbasic from the line kept the game balanced at 58-59 after three quarters. Reynolds scored from mid-range to put Nymburk in front 60-59. Janning again put the visitor ahead, 63-64. A Mahlbasic layup extended the margin to 78-71 with two minutes left when he sealed the win with a three-point-play.
