CSU Asesoft goes out on a winning note

CSU Asesoft Ploiesti completed its Last 32 campaign with an 88-81 victory over SLUC Nancy in a game between teams that were already eliminated. CSU Asesoft finished in third place in Group N with 2-4 record, while Nancy dropped to 1-5. Ploiesti used a closing 12-2 run to gain the victory. Alhaji Mohammed led the way with 21 points, Jarvis Hayes added 19, Marius Runkauskas chipped in 18 and Dragan Labovic 11. Sergii Gladyr and Vaughn Duggins netted 15 points apiece for the losers, while Keydren Clark and Maxime Zianveni had 13 each.

Karim Souchu completed a fast break to give a 12-18 margin to Nancy before an 11-4 run capped by a huge dunk from Hayes put the hosts in front 23-22 at the end of the first quarter. The game remained close with Clark scoring to give the visitors a 26-28 margin and then Labovic hitting from downtown to make it 37-32 for CSU Asesoft . After Duggins put Nancy up 1, Chris Cooper split free throws to tie the game at 43-43 as the first half ended.

Duggins gave Nancy a 43-48 edge. Mohammed made a dunk for a 58-55 CSU Asesoft margin. The third quarter ended at 64-64 after a long distance shot from Duggins, who was answering Jonte Flowers from a few seconds before. Hayes hit from long distance to make it 69-64. Then the lead changed hands entering the last minute with the visitors ahead 78-79. Hayes led a 7-0 run home team run with 5 points to lead 85-79 with 16 seconds on the game clock. Michalis Pelekanos sealed the win with a jumper on the buzzer.
