Union Olimpija Ljubljana secured its first win of the Last 32 by fending off Banvit Bandirma 84-80 in Group M. Drazen Bubnic led Ljubljana with 18 points while Nebojsa Joksimovic had 15 points and Alex Stepheson added 12 as Olimpija improved to 1-2. Banvit dropped to 1-2 as it wasted a 26-point showing from Sammy Mejia, while Earl Rowland had 15 and Ermal Kuqo chipped in 12 points. Chuck Davis was held to 7 points and 4 rebounds in the loss.

Sasu Salin scored eight points as Ljubljana jumped in front 12-5. Mejia sparked a 4-14 Banvit answer for a 16-19 lead. Rowland added two free throws to increase the gap to 19-24 and it was 20-26 after one quarter. Kuqo and Davis scored to push the lead to 20-30. Joksimovic and Dragisa Drobnjak both hit from long range as Olimpija got the deficit down to 30-34. But Banvit pushed the gap back to 10 points – 30-40. Stepheson however tallied five points in a 12-2 Ljubljana surge to knot the game at 42-42 at halftime. Paolo Marinelli nailed a long ball and Bubnic converted a three-point play early in the third quarter for a 52-46 cushion. Banvit would not go away and the lead changed hands five times and the guests led 64-68 going into the last quarter. Neither team could pull away and it was 77-76 after Davis made one of two free throws with a minute to play. Alen Omic missed both foul shots but Bubnic put back the offensive rebound for a three-point game. After a Rowland turnover and Mejia splitting two from the stripe to make it 81-77, Salin made the first free throw but missed the second only to have Omic grab the offensive rebound and get fouled. He knocked down both free throws with 16 seconds for an 84-77 lead to ice the game.
