EWE Baskets Oldenburg picked up its first win of Group B, after topping Elan Chalon sur Saone 71-82 on Tuesday. Rickey Paulding hit three triples in the third quarter to give the visitors lead for good, before 5-14 spurt to open the fourth quarter got EWE Baskets to 59-73. Paulding finished the game shooting 5-for-7 from downtown, and 21 points. Chris Kramer had 15 points, 6 steals and 5 assists, while Konrad Wysocki and Andrea Crosariol scored 10 points apiece for EWE Baskets. Jon Brockman collected 20 points plus 11 boards for the hosts. Jordan Aboudou scored 11, and A.J. Slaughter 10 in defeat.
The visitors got an early 2-10 lead after couple of layups from Kramer, but Ilian Evtimov quickly rallied Chalon with couple of layups and a triple. A three-pointer from Mareks Jurevicus gave the hosts their first lead, 18-17, but Robin Smeulders hit a triple in the last seconds of the first quarter, making it 22-22 after 10 minutes. Teams continued changing leads, staying close, throughout the second quarter, and went into halftime tied at 39-39. After Paulding hit two triples early in the third quarter, the visitors went up 43-47 and never trailed again. A 2-10 run later in the quarter, with another triple from Paulding, put EWE Baskets up 49-57. And even though Slaughter did cut it to 54-57 at the end of the third, a 0-7 start of the fourth quarter, that included a triple from Dru Joyce, put the visitors into double-digit advantage, 54-64. Margin soon reached 14 points, and EWE Baskets cruised to victory.
