Cibona Zagreb got on the floor straight out of the airplane, but that did not stop it from defeating Virtus Rome 83-60 in the first game for both teams at the Torneo Città di Roma. Cibona never trailed, as Nik Slavica scored 10 points, including a pair of triples, for 14-4 starting lead. Daniele Ciambrone got Virtus going, but Leon Tomic contributed with defense and offense, before Bruno Skokna nailed a triple for 27-15 after 10 minutes. Margin reached 19 points in the second quarter before Giovanni De Nicolao, Matteo Trovato and Davide Alviti helped cut it to 41-33. Cibona went into halftime up 46-34, but increased it to 54-36 at the start of the third period. With Tomic and Antun Maricevic in lead roles, Cibona held 63-44 margin after 30 minutes. Game was out of reach in the fourth as Matteo Finamore and Alviti hit from downtown for Virtus, but so did Luka Obrvan, Skokna and Slavica as Cibona closed it out. Slavica netted 23 points in victory, Skokna had 16 points, Tomic collected 13 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Maricevic also had a double-double of 11 points plus 11 rebounds, while Toni Kumanovic scored 11 along with 6 assists in victory. Alviti had 13 points for Virtus.
