U18 Cedevita Zagreb opened its EUROLEAGUE BASKETBALL ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Torneig de Bàsquet Junior Ciutat de L’Hospitalet with a come-from-behind 66-57 victory over U18 Panathinaikos Superfoods Athens in Group B. Zagreb, which trailed by 11 points in the second quarter, was led by Antonio Jordano with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Toni Nakic added 16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists for the winners, who will next play U18 Divina Seguros Joventut Badalona in Group B. Panathinaikos, which is making its debut in the ANGT, was paced by Georgios Kalaitzakis with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Panathinaikos next faces host team U18 Torrons Vicens L’Hospitalet in Group B.

The first quarter was back and forth with six lead changes as Kalaitzakis scored 13 points in helping Panathinaikos take a 16-18 lead. Midway through the second quarter, Kostas Koufopoulos nailed back-to-back three-pointers to give the Greek side a 22-26 lead, which grew to 22-33 after Michail Stathakis’s three-pointer. Cedevita was able to climb back to within 30-36 at halftime. The Panathinaikos cushion was 37-40 when Jordano took over with 10 points including 2 three-pointers in an 18-2 run as Cedevita finished the third quarter up 55-44. Cedevita remained in control the rest of the way, never letting Panathinaikos closer than 5 points.
