Cedevita Zagreb beat CB L’Hospitalet 61-71 on Thursday to finish its participation in the Ciutat de L’Hospitalet Tournament with a well-deserved victory. After finishing the group stage with a 0-3 record, Cedevita was able to finish seventh, one spot above the host team, who close out their showing with 4 losses in as many games. Cedevita cemented its come-from-behind victory on a stellar defensive performance in the second half, in which it limited L’Hospitalet to 20 points. Hospi was held to 39% two-point field goal percentage throughout the game and 1-of-11 three-point shooting. Filip Bundovic paced the winners with 19 points and 11 rebounds while Antun Hrkac scored 16, Martin Junakovic 11 and Karlo Lebo 10. Luka Saric was a force in the paint, with 9 points and 12 rebounds. Xavi Llagostera was the leading scorer for L’Hospitalet with 14 points, Fernando Cerqueira added 11 plus 7 rebounds and 3 assists and Jose Luis Valencia scored 10.

L’Hospitalet converted the game’s first basket by way of a Raul Mato layup, but Cedevita quickly got the lead thanks to Bundovic’s hot hand as he scored 7 of his team’s first 11 points. Cedevita stayed in front throughout the opening quarter, while L’Hospitalet struggled to find open looks at the basket and finished the quarter at a 15-20 deficit. Lebo scored on one of the tournament’s best dunks with a two handed slam to keep Cedevita in front 24-25 in the second, but Cerqueira forced a three-point play and scored on a pretty baseline penetration to tie it at 27-27 as L’Hospitalet mounted a 13-4 run to get to 37-29 after a nice Marc Girondo put back. The margin prevailed until halftime was reached, 41-33, but a triple by Junakovic and three-point play by Saric cut it to 45-40 in the third. Defenses tightened at both ends and Hrkac was finally able to cap a 0-7 run and tie the score at 47-47 with an off balance shot from beyond the arc, as the score remained even to start the fourth. Junakovic put Cedevita ahead with another big triple and Bundovic added 4 free throws, another three-pointer and a layup to put the lead at 50-59. Llagostera ended the drought with a field goal, but with Cedevita up by as much as 11 points with a minute to go, L’Hospitalet was unable to counter.
