Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul took fifth place at the Torneig de Básquet Júnior “Ciutat de L’Hospitalet” by beating Barcelona 71-58 with an 11-0 run to close the game. Berk Ugurlu scored six of his team-high 22 points in the final push while Batuhan Gungor hit 5 three-pointers for 19 points and Ayberk Olmaz had 16 points and 18 rebounds. Ludde Hakanson paced Barcelona with 15 points while Nedim Dedovic and Marc Garcia both added 11 in the loss. Fenerbahce jumped ahead 15-6 thanks to back-to-back baskets from Olmaz. Dedovic completed a three-point play and nailed a three-ball to get within 17-13. Gungor’s three-pointer gave him eight points in the first 10 minutes and a 22-13 lead, which Garcia trimmed to 22-18 with a trey. Stefan Peno and Dedovic nailed long balls at Barcelona knotted the game at 24-24. Gungor hit another triple as Istanbul moved ahead 36-31. The lead was 40-38 at intermission. Hakanson scored the first five points for the second half to give Barca a 40-43 lead. That was the biggest lead of the third quarter, in which there were four lead changes with Fenerbahce leading 52-51 after 30 minutes. Hakanson kept Barcelona close in the fourth quarter and the guard’s basket got Barca to within 60-58 with 2:26 remaining. But Barcelona’s offense went cold and Fenerbahce hit the final 11 points of the game.
