A 9-0 run to end the game lifted Asvel Villeurbanne Lyon over Union Olimpija Ljubljana 64-56, giving the hosts their first victory in Group C Eurocup campaign. Asvel took control with an 11-0 run in the first 5 minutes of the game, but Olimpija rallied and finally took its first lead, 51-52, midway through the fourth quarter. When it looked like the game is destined for some high drama, the hosts stepped up defensively, not allowing a single point in the final 3 and a half minutes of the game, while scoring 9 consecutive points to end it, picking up victory. Edwin Jackson and Chris Wright each scored 12 points, and Amara Sy had 11 points plus 8 rebounds in victory. Deividas Gailus netted 18 points, while Alex Stepheson added 8 for Olimpija which suffered its first loss of the season.
Jackson opened the game with couple of triples, and a layup-plus-foul from Sy helped make it 11-2. The visitors got going with a basket-plus-foul from Kodi Augustus and a triple from Sasu Salin, but Asvel used an unsportsmanlike foul from Stepheson, extending the margin to 20-10 after the first quarter. Asvel and Olimpija went basket for basket in the second quarter, each team getting contribution from four different players before hustle plays and baskets from Stepheson and Augustus cut it to 28-24. More followed from Olimpija, which allowed only one field goal in the final 5 minutes of the half, and Nebojsa Joksimovic made it 30-28 at halftime. After the break, Augustus tied it at 32-32, but Marko Keselj and Sy put together an 8-0 run as the hosts regained the lead, and entered the last quarter up 46-42. However, back to back triples from Gailius and Drazen Bubnic put Olimpija in front for the first time, 51-52, before free throws from Gailius gave them 55-56 with 3 and a half minutes to go. But in the remaining time, the hosts did not allow any more points as Wright, Jackson and Sy sealed the deal with a 9-0 run.
