2010-11U18 BelgradeRound 1
HALA BASKETLAND
The defending European junior champion, INSEP of France, got off to a smashing start in the NIJT Belgrade classification tournament on Friday by rolling to a 93-69 victory over Beovuk 72 at Hala Basketland in the Serbian capital. It was the opening game for each team in Group B, where INSEP is also paired with the host and champion of this tournament a year ago, FMP. INSEP lost to FMP in the Belgrade classification tournament last year, but got revenge in their continental final in Paris to become Nike International Junior Tournament champion. On Friday, INSEP played solidly from the start, edging out to a 24-18 lead after 10 minutes before turning on its defense to reach halftime holding a 44-30 advantage as Livio Jean-Charles and Yannis Morin dominated inside. Beovuk climed on the back of guard Nikola Socanac in the third quarter, cutting the difference to 68-57 after 30 minutes, but INSEP poured it on again in the final quarter to win going away. Jean-Charles led the winners with 23 points on 9-for-10 shooting plus 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Hugo Invernizzi added 14 points 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Mam Jaiteh and Ulyesse Adjagba had 13 pionts, Morin 11 for INSEP, which dominated on the boards with a 48-31 rebounding advantage. Beovuk 72 was led by Socanac with 26 points and 4 assists. Nemanja Pavlovic and Nikola Budic added 14 points each and Marko Babic had 10.
