An 11-0 run helped Real to a 64-55 margin at the end of the third quarter. A jumper by Kostas Sloukas tied the game, 73-73, but Taylor made the difference down the stretch.

Ahmet Duverioglu got Fenerbahce going with a layup that Randolph bettered with a three-pointer for a 3-2 Real lead. Taylor followed consecutive layups with a triple, getting help from Edy Tavares and Campazzo to make it a double-digit game, 14-4. A red-hot Taylor struck again from downtown and dunked off a steal before Fenerbahce called its second timeout in 43 seconds. Williams stepped up for Fenerbahce with a three-pointer and a power layup and De Colo scored again to bring the guests within 35-33. De Colo and Williams kept pacing Fenerbahce, but Fernandez rescued Real with 4 quick points, Mickey added a jumper and Gabriel Deck scored in the low post to keep the hosts ahead, 43-42, at halftime. A jumper by Mahmutoglou completed Fenerbahce's comeback, 43-44, immediately after the break. Real needed a go-to guy and found one in Randolph, who stepped up with a tip-in and a couple of three-pointers in an 11-0 run that established a 54-44 lead. Mahmutoglou and Williams tried to change things for the visitors, but Taylor and Campazzo each sank one from beyond the arc to keep Los Blancos comfortably ahead, 64-55, after 30 minutes. Campazzo insisted from downtown early in the fourth quarter and soon added a layup for a 69-57 Real margin. De Colo and Williams scored around the basket and Kalinic added a three-pointer to give Fenerbahce hope at 73-68 with over 4 minutes left. Williams also struck from beyond the arc and a jumper by Sloukas tied it at 73-73. Taylor scored down low and once Campazzo and De Colo traded free throws, Taylor scored again for a 79-75 Real edge with a minute left. A layup by Deck sealed the outcome in the final seconds.

"First of all, congratulations to the team for the win. It was a hard-fought win. I believe we had a very good start in this game, especially on offense, moving the ball well to find good shots easily. We played in the open court and got a lead which we knew that up to a certain point, it was not real, because Fenerbahce is a team that hangs on to games. They can play with big and small lineups, but we had a run again in the third quarter to take the lead. We know they could spread the floor a lot, making their three-point shots harder to be defended. Kalinic and Williams hit one each and that brought them back in the game. We were patient enough to find advantages around the basket and got a difficult, tough win. This is the EuroLeague - we know we have to be focused at all times because you play against great teams and any player can hurt you.

"Their two main signings, De Colo and Williams, are good scorers, very versatile, but we also had players who did a great job. The first game is always very difficult - you have new players, a new situation and you haven't worked for a long time. You start the competition needing to grow. It was important for my team's confidence to beat a team like Fenerbahce, in one of the best games in the competition. Having a good start is nice, gives you confidence, but you also have to realize this is a 34-game regular season and we aspire to win as many as we can to make it to the playoffs. Once we make it, we will set new goals."

OBRADOVIC, ZELJKO
Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul
"It was our first game in the EuroLeague and I believe that both teams showed a good level. It is obvious that the game was decided on small details. However, I want to congratulate Real Madrid for their victory and also to my team for the way we fought for 40 minutes. Our pre-season was not so good because of different reasons; many players with their national teams, some injured players, but if I go back to think how our picture was 10 days ago and how it is today, it is obvious that we played better. I believe that practicing and playing games will help us be in this level that is necessary to fight against everybody in the EuroLeague."

TAVARES, WALTER

"We worked well. We knew it was going to be a difficult game, we had to be focused all 40 minutes. Fenerbahce is a team with a lot of options on offense and defense, but we played well and won the game. Fenerbahce is a very good team that can play with small and big lineups. That hurt us a little bit, but we were able to handle it and get what we wanted. The best teams are in the EuroLeague and every game is going to be like a final for us. In my opinion, ever since I joined the team, I believe Facu Campazzo is the best point guard in Europe. He is an all-around player who can do everything - play well on offense but also play hard on defense."
CAMPAZZO, FACUNDO
Real Madrid
"I wan to say 'thank you' to the fans for their support. I think that starting with a win is very good. I think the team's effort was great and that the key to the game was [in the] details. I think we took care of details and played a great game."
MICKEY, JORDAN
Real Madrid
"Getting the victory is always the main goal. I felt like I could play a little bit better, I had some lapses in my game, but overall, I am just happy we got the team win. I love the fans! I love that they come out every night to support us and it is just a great environment."
WILLIAMS, DERRICK
Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul
"It is a tough loss. It is our first game of the EuroLeague season and we are still accommodating with each other. Anytime you play a team like this on the road, it is going to be a tough game. We battled back from 10-11 down twice, tied the game and even took the lead. It is a long season; this is the first game of the year, but we will get better. My teammates were finding me open; we had a couple of plays, designed plays for my teammates to set picks on my guy, being able to get me open looks. I am just trying to hustle and played a lot of minutes tonight, but I am just trying to get out there and hustle, and help my team."
