The Lions missed the chance to win their first game in the Euroleague, after being beaten by TAU Vitoria in the last quarter. During the first 30 minutes, the Russian team was ahead all the time, and the advantage was of 13 points in minute 26 (75-62). TAU's game was full of mistakes, possibly due to the awful circumstances that took place last week. For example, Stombergas and Timinskas could not make it to St. Petersburg until yesterday morning. Foirest was the one who pulled the Spanish team tonight. The Lions kept the pace of the game under their will from the beginning, thanks to two quick baskets by Jennings, together with the exceptional percentage from the 3 point zone. They took a big lead very early (20-13 in minute 6). All the attempts of TAU to get close on the scoreboard were instantly crushed by the Lions (37-35, min.17; 51-41, min. 20). The Russian team got to the half time with excellent percentages (97% in free throws, 64% in 2-pointers). TAU wouldn't overcome the difficulties until the last quarter. TAU's defence in the last qurter put so much pressure on the Lions. The Spaniards failed to hit two three-pointers (Bennett and Foirest) that could have put TAU near the Lions. Despite these mistakes, TAU took off for a 2-16 run that tied the score. In the end, 4 free throws scored by Bennett put 79-81 on the scoreboard. The Lions have lost all the games in the competition while TAU, with this victory, is still a candidate for the second place in Group B.
