Davis Geks - IJT VEF RigaDay 2 in the Nike International Junior Tournament in Kaunas was tipped off as VEF Riga beat Canarias Basketball 64-42 on Saturday morning in Kaunas, Lithuania. VEF, who lost in overtime yesterday, climbed to a 1-1 record and tied its record with Canarias for the second spot. Later on today VEF will try to grab another win facing Elan Chalon while Canarias will take on BC Khimki. Davis Geks had 18 points and 11 rebounds for VEF and was followed by Armands Ginters and Kristaps Plavnieks with 13 each. Shane Hammick was the top scorer for the losing side with 18 points. VEF started the game with killing defense and limited Canarias to just 18 points in the first half on the way to a 31-18 half time lead. Canarias came back to the game and cut the gap to just seven inside the last quarter but Geks hit twice from the arc and ignited a new run by VEF that decided the game.
