Lietuvos Rytas cruised to another victory at the Kaunas NIJT Qualifying Tournament, beating SMS PZKosz Wladyslawowo 86-61 on Saturday morning to tip off Day 2 of action. Win improves Rytas to 2-0 atop of Group B, while Wladyslawowo drops to 0-2. Regimantas Miniotas paced the winners with 19 points and 8 rebounds while Lukas Zarskus scored 10. Dominik Olejniczak had 14 points plus 9 boards in defeat. Rytas took control of the game in the early going through Miniotas and Tomas Zdenavicius, but Wladyslawowo was staying in touch thanks to Olejniczak, and shots from Marcin Wieluski. A triple from Karol Majchrzak tied it 27-27 at the start of the second quarter, but Rytas responded with an 18-2 run. Miniotas contributed with 10 points, while Tautvydas Paliukenas and Mantas Serksnas each buried a triple for 45-29. A tough three-pointer from Vytautas Saulis extended the lead to 18 points, and Rytas held 52-36 halftime lead. Wladyslawowo had a great start to the third quarter with five different players scoring in the opening 4 minutes, and cutting it to 56-47. But a triple and a jumper from Aidas Einikis, and fastbreak layups from Margiris Normantas and Zarskus had Rytas end the quarter up 67-53. Quick baskets from Jokubas Svambaris and Normantas at the start of the fourth sparked a 12-2 run, capped by a jumper from Aistis Pilauskas for 79-55, sealing the deal.
