KK Buducnost captured the second spot in Group A following an 87-81 win over Asvel Basket in the Belgrade Nike International Junior Tournament on Saturday morning in Belgrade, Serbia. Buducnost qualified to the semi-finals to face the winner of Group B later on today. The winner of the tournament will grab the third ticket to the Nike International Junior Tournament to be held in Paris, France during the 2010 Euroleague weekend. Asvel kicked off the games with a win but lost the two following ones and grabbed the third spot in the group. Buducnost controlled the first half and took a 50-30 lead after 20 minutes, but a big second half by Asvel was just almost enough for a great comeback. Luka Radovic led the winners with 26 points and 12 rebounds while Bojan Ratkovic added 17 points and 5 assists and Marko Mugosa 15. Lambert Diacono topped the scoresheet of Asvel with 26 points and 8 rebounds, Adrien Coussy scored 13 points while Theo Leon and Gide Noel had 11 each.

A good start on the offensive end for both sides saw Asvel hold a 16-17 lead after eight minutes, but then lose focus and allowed Buducnost to score 9 points in a row to finish the first quarter up by 8. Four more points were added to the run early in the second quarter before Diacono gave his team some air to breath, but once again the air ran out before the buzzer. Radovic, who scored 21 points already in the first half, carried his team on another run before the break all the way to a 50-30 game. Asvel showed a totally difference face in the second half, as Diacono and Leon led a 2-9 run to make it just an 13 point game early in the third. Luca Antic and Coussy continued the great run as Noel dished great passes around cutting the gap to only 6, 62-56, with 11 minutes on the game clock. Martinovic with a three pointer pushed it back to 11 with a hit from the arc, but Diacono was on fire and led his team all the way to a 76-76 tie with only three minutes to play. With the game on the line Buducnost went for Mugosa who scored 4 points and drew the 5th foul from Diacono, enough to decide the game in favor of his team.
