KK Hemofarm Stada took the 3rd spot in Group B of the Belgrade Nike International Junior Tournament following a 51-63 win over Brose Baskets on a Saturday afternoon in Belgrade, Serbia. Hemofarm grabbed a 2-1 record to play later on today against BC Crvena Zvezda while Brose lost all its 3 games in the group and will take on Asvel Basket in the 5-8 classification games of the third qualifying tournament for the Nike International Junior Tournament that will take place in Paris during the 2010 Euroleague Final Four weekend. Brose missed its best player - Philipp Neumann, due to an injury, and struggled all game to score. Hemofarm dominated the boards 29-47 to maintain its advantages and gain its first win in the games while making an 0-11 run to decide the game after a big comeback by Brose. Petar Lambic led the winners with 16 points and Nemanja Knezevic added 14. Deon McDuffie was the top scorer for Brose with 23 points, all of them in the first three quarters, while Kevin Eichelsdorfer added 13 with 7 boards.
Hemofarm wasted no time and took a quick 0-8 lead to make a statement. Knezevic set the score on 6-18 right before McDuffie scored from the arc to cut the margin to 9 at the first quarter buzzer, bud Buducnost were about to let Brose back in the game. Petar Lambic and Knezevic set a double-digit difference again and when Igrutinovic combined 5 points in a row before the break, Hemofarm took a 23-36 lead. Brose continued to struggle with scoring, but stepped up its defense to keep Hemofam on just a two field goals in first 5 minutes of the second half, and cut the margin to just one, 40-41 after McDuffie combined points. Hemofarm looked for answers, but saw McDuffie make things happen for Brose and enter the last quarter up by 6, 48-42. After scoring 23 points already in three quarters the tired McDuffie didn't add a single point until the buzzer, which made things difficult for his team. Hemofarm wasn't on its best shooting form as well, but used 7 minutes of drought by Brose to make a 10-0 run and regained the lead, 48-52. Dippold scored from the arc, to cut it back to a one point game, but Knezevic and Lambic stepped up in time and secured the win with the closing 11 points of the game.
