After taking control for good in the third quarter, Bayern built a double-digit lead in the fourth and held of Sarajevo’s late charge. Richard Freudenberg and Marcel Kessen scored 15 points apiece and Jakob Mertz added 14 for the winners. Edin Atic led Spars with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Enis Memic tallied 11 points and 9 rebounds in defeat. Atic helped Sarajevo to a 0-5 start, but Freudenberg carried Bayern back. Moritz Overdick gave Bayern a 15-13 lead through 10 minutes. Back-to-back threes by Atic and Ajdin Penava helped spark a 2-10 Spars run to take charge, but Freudenberg had it tied again at 26-26. After a Tim Hasbargen three, Sarajevo’s Memic tied the game at 31-31 at the break. Kessen’s three-point play capped a 9-0 Munich run that made it 44-35 midway through the third quarter. The lead peaked at 14 early in the fourth quarter. Sarajevo rallied late, using a 2-12 charge led by Adnan Arslanagic and finishing with an Amar Gegic steal and layup to make it 62-58 with two minutes to go. Gegic made it 64-61 from the line, but Mertz responded with a clutch triple and later iced the game with a pair of free throws with 6 seconds to go.
