U18 FC Barcelona Lassa picked up its second straight victory in Group A of the 2016 EUROLEAGUE BASKETBALL ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Finals by knocking off U18 Mega Bemax Belgrade 85-70. Aleix Font paced Barcelona in scoring with 22 points to go with 5 steals while Atoumane Diagne collected 16 points, 14 rebounds and 2 blocks. Rodions Kurucs scored all 15 of his points in the second quarter and he also had 3 rebounds and 4 assists with Pol Figueras picking up 11 points and 7 assists, and Eric Vila chipping in 8 points 6 rebounds 2 assists and 3 blocks for the winners, who improved to 2-0 in Group A. Mega dropped to 0-2 in the group despite 16 points from Luka Vasic while Marko Pecarski had 15 points and 8 rebounds. Novak Music added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists in the loss and Nikola Miskovic had 10 points and 7 rebounds.

Font opened the game with first 4 points as Barcelona led 6-0. After Miskovic answered with 4 straight points, Font nailed a three-pointer as the Spanish side increased the lead to 12-4. Uros Plavsic came back down with a three-ball and 2 Pecarski free throws had Mega to within 13-10. Figueras and Pecarski swapped three-pointers and Music knocked down a jumper at the first quarter buzzer to make it 18-15 after 10 minutes. Kurucs began taking over the second quarter with Barcelona’s first 6 points - including a three-pointer - to increase the gap to 24-19. Vasic was matching him at the other end with 8 straight points - including 2 triples to get the deficit down to 26-25. Kurucs punched back with 5 quick points to re-establish a 6-point lead and it was 35-29 after Kurucs’ 15th point in the quarter. The gap was down to 36-35 at the break.

Font scored 5 early points in the second half - including a three-ball - as Barcelona jumped ahead 43-35. Vasic finally got Mega on the board after 2 minutes of play. Sergi Martinez’s three-ball increased the Barcelona lead to 50-39. Pecarski did all he could to get Mega back into the game with 8 points in a couple of minutes, but the margin was still 55-49. And two baskets from Raimon Carrasco had Barcelona up 62-51 after 30 minutes. Miskovic’s three-point play early in the third quarter trimmed the gap to 62-55. After Diagne got Barcelona on the scoring board in the fourth, Music came up with three-point play of his own as Mega was within 66-60. But Vila and Font nailed back-to-back three-pointers and Figueras also was on target from long range to blow the game open 79-62 with less than 3 minutes to play. Aleksa Matic’s triple made it 80-68 with 1:15 minutes remaining and Font added 5 final points to make things certain.
