Dashaun Wood scored 20 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter and extra session combined, as Le Mans Sarthe Basket survived in 81-74 overtime win over CEZ Basketball Nymburk on Wednesday. Victory improved Le Mans to 2-1, in a share of second place in Group A, while Nymburk dropped to 1-2. After the visitors held 32-40 in the third, Le Mans took over control with a huge 27-5 spurt for 59-45 advantage in the fourth quarter. However, Nymburk put together a 2-11 run at the end of regulation for 69-69, and Tre Simmons sent the game into overtime. But in the extra session, the hosts led by Wood pulled together, and snatched a victory. Wood shot 5 of 7 from downtown in his 30-point performance, while Vaugh Duggins was the only other Le Mans player in the double digits with 15. After a triple from Vojtch Hruban opened the second quarter, Wood hit another triple for the hosts and Vaughn Duggins scored twice to tie it, 22-22. But Nymburk answered with 7 consecutive points through Rancik, Simmons and Rasid Mahalbasic, but Duggins and Kevin Mendy hit three-pointers before halftime, cutting it to 30-32 after 20 minutes. In the third quarter, another triple from Hruban helped the visitors to 32-40, but Duggins and Wood got Le Mans' offense going, and the hosts used a technical foul for an 8-0 run to finish the quarter, taking 48-45 lead into the final 10 minutes. Wood hit back-to-back triples at the start of the fourth, and Alain Koffi followed it up with 5 points for 59-45. Page and Tre Simmons halved the deficit to 7 points, and the visitors did not got closer than that until the final minute when as Wood and Reyshawn Terry kept the lead safe. However, Rancik sparked Nymburk’s 2-11 run, also making a basket-plus-foul for 69-67 before Simmons made a fastbreak layup with 14 seconds to go, sending the game into overtime. In the extra session, Page scored four points to keep the visitors’ momentum going and 73-74, but Wood scored 7 in a row, including a triple that gave Le Mans lead for good. Head Coaches

JACKSON, JD
Le Mans Sarthe Basket
"Nymburk was a very strong when they came back in the fourth quarter. We were playing real good basketball on offense and defense during the second half and overtime. But we made big mistakes at the end of the game that could hace cost use the game. We lost our mind, but we succeeded in overtime to win this important game. With this kind of tough game, you are improving as a team and it’s good for our confidence."
KEMZURA, KESTUTIS
CEZ Basketball Nymburk
"Crazy game is a good summation. We played well in the first half, but not with enough of a lead because of little mistakes and free throws missed. In the second half, Le Mans came back with much higher intensity that affected our way of play. Dashaun Wood was incredible and we couldn’t stop him. Le Mans deserves this win, but I regret some important turnovers and rebounds for Le Mans."

Players

DUGGINS, VAUGHN
Le Mans Sarthe Basket
"It was a crazy game, we needed this victory for finding our confidence. Three losses in a row was enough. Even if we had to win the game twice because of our own mistakes, this game is really good mentally for us and our confidence. We regrouped and we played really well in overtime."
RANCIK, RADOSLAV
CEZ Basketball Nymburk
"I want to congratulate Le Mans for this game. It’s difficult to lose a game this way during overtime after we came back in the fourth, but that’s basketball. We made crucial mistakes, especially me and unfortunately it cost us the game."
