KK Hemofarm Stada took the 5th place in the Belgrade Nike International Junior Tournament after an 83-72 victory against Brose Baskets on Sunday morning in Belgrade, Serbia. The team teams met already in the groups stage and there too Hemofarm won by a similar margin of 12. Brose missed Philipp Neumann in the group game, but enjoyed the services of the big guy today, for a limited time, still not enough to make the needed difference. Hemofarm took an 11 point lead already at the break, and held on to it until the final whistle. Luka Mitrovic was the top scorer of Hemofarm with 21 points and 9 rebounds, Luka Igrutinovic added 20 and Dordje Milosevic finished with 11 and 7 assists. Kevin Eichelsdorfer was on fire for Brose with 20 points as well as Neumann who scored 20 in less than 17 minutes. Jorg Dippold added 17.
Hemofarm wrote the first 6 points of the game, but Neumann took over and with points in the pant gave his team a 9-10 lead after 7 minutes. Lambic was the running power behind Hemofarm's offense enough for a 19-14 first quarter lead. Hemofarm's made shot after shot from the arc, and extended the difference to 30-16 before Neumann took over the game again, but this time only to stop the run, and reach the half time break down 44-33. Dippold found his spot and with points inside and outside the arc cut the margin to just 7, but Luka Andusic silenced Brose's hopes with a quick three pointer early in the closing quarter, 64-54. A great team effort by Brose defense held Hemofarm on 66 points for a long while, and the teams entered the last five minutes separated by only four points, 68-64. Andusic and Nemanja Knezevic stepped up in time and quickly extended the gap to 10 again, this time enough for the win.
