Head Coaches

SFAIROPOULOS, IOANNIS
Olympiacos Piraeus
"I have to congratulate my players for their desire to defend. Without such a desire we can’t improve our game and this is what I told them in the lockerroom. We controlled the game for forty minutes and made it easy. I think we can play much better in both defense and offense, especially to make some things happen automatically. I am satisfied because we committed only six turnovers and dished 26 assists. I am insisting on defensive matters, because that’s basketball. If you are dedicated there, you may succeed, otherwise you fail. The players of Olympiacos are smart and have the quality to understand what to do in defense, play their roles and learn from the mistakes. There is no reason to be very enthusiastic, it is just a victory, but I am looking forward to have here our fans, as it happened tonight, to support our effort."
ATAMAN, ERGIN
Galatasaray Liv Hospital Istanbul
"Congratulations to Olympiacos for their win and the great basketball they showed tonight. Although the final 27-point margin is not the real difference between the two teams, the deserved to beat us. We were very soft in both ends of the court, made too many turnovers and lost control of the game very early. It was a really terrible game from our side, while Olympiacos had en excellent performance, led by Spanoulis. We had an opportunity to fight, but after a timeout they came back big and charged a big run that I don’t remember exactly."

Players

KATSIVELIS, DIMITRIS
Olympiacos Piraeus
"We had prepared to play a tough game but it was because of our performance that it didn’t happen. The explanation is simple: great defense in the first quarter, great offense in the fourth quarter. Generally, with an exception in the second period, we followed our plan and didn’t let Galatasaray play their game. Energy is coming from the defense, no doubt and this is the reason because we dished 26 assists and had good shooting and fast breaks."
AGRAVANIS, DIMITRIS
Olympiacos Piraeus
"We work hard every day in practice and this effort paid back. I think that we played very smart and didn’t allow them to be a real threat. Thanks to the good defense and the energy we had, we ran on the open court and had many easy points which is a key factor to win at home."
HUNTER, OTHELLO
Olympiacos Piraeus
"From the very first moment that coach Sfairopoulos took over the bench he is talking about one thing, defense, defense, defense! Everything that happened tonight is because of the defense, the good ball movement and the right approach to the needs of the game."
MANTZARIS, VANGELIS
Olympiacos Piraeus
"It is too early to say that this is the ultimate performance for Olympiacos. We are in the beginning of the season and I hope that better days are to come. Sure, having 5-0 is very positive and pushes our psychology, but the season is long and difficult. Tonight we took another stape forward, but there are many things to improve in our game. I didn’t like the fact that they bagged 26 points in the second quarter, even though most of them came fromthe free throws. The good thing is that despite the absences of Printezis, Lojeski and Papapetrou, we have 12 players ready to play and give their best."
VOUGIOUKAS, IAN
Galatasaray Liv Hospital Istanbul
"First of all I feel good because I came back to my country and met a lot of friends, but on the other side I am very disappointed from our performance and the big defeat we suffered. Olympiacos defended on a very effective way from the very first moment, scored easy points and didn't let us to play our rhythm."
MICOV, VLADIMIR
Galatasaray Liv Hospital Istanbul
"When you lose like that, there are not complicated things to talk about. We had a very bad game and they played great, this is the truth. They were very aggressive from the beginning of the match and had a system of playing in which we didn’t answer. We lacked energy and good decisions, we allowed them to score many easy points and when we cut the margin to ten points, they charged a 18-0 run and everything was over."
