2010-11TournamentRound 3
SANT JORDI CLUB COURT 2
FMP defeated INSEP, 69-71, Saturday afternoon on the third day of the 2011 Euroleague Basketball Nike International Junior Tournament, notching their first win of the tournament and finishing at 1-2 in Group A. Turanjanin Popovski paced the winners with 19 points, Dusan Ristic added 18 to go with 15 rebounds and Nikola Rebic scored 12. INSEP could not hold on to a 53-46 lead to start the fourth quarter and lost the game despite Livio Jean-Charles' 25 points and 13 apiece by Mohammad Jaiteh and Ulysse Adjagba, finishing the tournament with a 1-2 record as well

INSEP tried to attack the rim in the first quarter, but had to settle for perimeter shots, as FMP effectively sealed the paint. INSEP broke a 9-9 tie by going on an 11-1 run to close the quarter, highlighted with a gorgeous reverse alley-oop layup by Jean-Charles off a Hugo Invernizzi feed.

With a 20-10 INSEP advantage to start the second period, Marko Tejic worked to get FMP flowing offensively in the half court game, and Popovski answered a Adjagba perimeter shot with a sweet jumper to beat the clock and keep it a two-possession game at 24-19. Jean-Charles again displayed his athleticism and soft touch around the basket by dropping consecutive shots to build a 12-point difference and force FMP to regroup. A Rebik three-point play seemed to spark the Serbian team, but INSEP closed out the half with authority, on top 40-28, after a spectacular Jean-Charles slam.

FMP found some offensive relief inside after the break, as Ristic hit a hook shot in response to another Jean-Charles dunk, Rebic followed with a transition layup, and Nikola Pavlovic added a mid-ranger to close in at 46-40. With the Serbian squad more assertive in drives to the rim and crashing the offensive glass, the game tightened up until Jean-Charles return from a brief rest and swished a triple that Adjagba followed with a transition layup, as the quarter ended at a 53-46 advantage for the French side.

But a 3-10 run by FMP to start the fourth tied it up, thanks to Rebic's ball handling and Popovski's work inside. A Popovski baseline jumper put the Serbian squad ahead for the first time since the opening quarter, 56-58. Adjagba answered for INSEP with a perimeter shot, and the defensive pressure intensified for both teams, as INSEP needed second and even third-chance opportunities to regain the lead 67-66 with 1:55 to go. Nikola Jankovic dropped a cold-blooded three-pointer off an inbounds play and Jaiteh scored on a put-back to tie it one last time before Ristic drained the game-winner on a hook shot with only 3.4 ticks left on the clock. Too little time for INSEP to answer, as an Ivernizzi buzzer-beating attempt rattled off the rim, and just enough for FMP to notch its lone win in the tournament.
