Sluc Nancy registered its first win in Group D by thrashing Azovmash Mariupol 80-57 at home on Tuesday. Both teams are now tied for the third place in the standings at 1-2, two wins away from the undefeated leaders, Khimki and Pamesa Valencia. Jeff Greer led the winners with 20 points. Ricardo Greer added 16, Michael Bauer had 11 while Zab Dowdell got 10 for Nancy. Yahor Meshcharakou had 18 points for Azovmash while Kris Long added 14. A red hot Meshcharakou buried 3 triples in the first quarter for a 16-18 Azovmash lead after 10 minutes, but once Nancy solved its defensive problems, the hosts simply rolled at both ends. Jeff Greer led a game-breaking 17-2 run that gave the hosts a 34-23 edge, while Dowdell boosted Nancy's lead to 41-25 at halftime. Azovmash did not rally after the break, as the Greer brother took over in a 10-0 run that sealed the outcome at the end of the third quarter, 63-43. Azovmash registered its second consecutive loss and Nancy rejoined the elimination round race while pleasing its fans.
Nancy opted to attack the basket in the early going, as a three-point play by Pape Amagou and free throws by Ricardo Greer gave the hosts a 5-3 edge. A three-pointer by Meshcharakou gave Azovmash its first lead, 7-8, but Michael Bauer answered from downtown while Ricardo Greer gave Nancy a 12-8 edge. Tyus Edney and Panos Liadelis fueled a 0-7 Azovmash run while Meshcharakou fired in his third triple for a 14-18 lead late in the first quarter. A three-point play by Tomas Delininkaitis gave Azovmash a 17-21 edge, but Jeff Greer hit consecutive three-pointers in a 8-0 run that put Nancy back ahead, 25-21. DJ Harrison added back-to-back baskets to make Azovmash call timeout at 29-23. The guests did not manage to fix their offense while TJ Parker and Jeff Greer boosted the hosts' lead to 34-23. Meshcharakou scored again, but he didn't find any help around. Meanwhile, Parker and Zab Dowdell led a 7-0 run that allowed Nancy to reach halftime with a 41-25 margin. Archibald and Edney tried to ignit the guests' comeback after the break, but Bauer buried a three-pointer and Victor Samnick added a layup for a 49-32 Nancy lead. Kris Long stepped up with 5 quick points to give Azovmash some hope, 51-38. It didn't last long, however, as the Greer brothers and Bauer combined for all points in a 10-0 run that broke the game open, 63-43, after 30 minutes. Long and Rodney Buford tried to change things for Azovmash but Nancy kept rolling, as consecutive baskets by Ricardo Greer gave the hosts a 76-51, enough to all fans to celebrate their team's first win in this ULEB Cup season.
