Maccabi Teddy Tel Aviv earned its debut win in the Citta di Roma Tournament following a 62-49 victory over Acea Virtus Roma on Wednesday afternoon in Rome, Italy. As a result of the win Maccabi finish Group A in the third spot with a 2-1 record while Roma is still without a win with a 0-3 at the bottom. Tomorrow Maccabi will face the fourth spot from Group B while Roma will take on the third ranked team in the parallel group. Yariv Amiram had 22 points and 8 rebounds for Maccabi, Gal Gelinski added 12 with 6 rebounds and 5 assists while Idan Zalmanson double-doubled with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Roma had 14 points by Alessandro Guagliardi and Matteo Tambone added 11. The first half saw both teams struggle to score and the scoreboard displayed a 23-20 lead for Maccabi. Guagliardi carried his team to a three point lead entering the last quarter with long range bombs, 40-43, but Maccabi had the final word. A great closing quarter by Amiram and Zalmanson led Maccabi to a 15-1 run that decided the game.
