Brose Baskets Bamberg won its first game of the 2012 Rome Nike International Junior Tournament against Virtus Bologna by 57-69. The win allows Brose Baskets to improve to 1-1 while Virtus drops to also 1-1, making Group B a tight one. Andreas Obst and Dino Dizdarevic led teh winners with 20 points apiece while for the Italian team, Simone Fontecchio and Adam Pechaceck led the way with 14 points each and Giovanni Allodi added 11 points. The first quarter was close enough and it was in the second period when Brose Baskets opened a gap in the score thanks to a 12-21 partial that made it 29-40 at the break. After that, things got close again but a 2-10 in assists for the German team allowed them to manage the lead until the final buzzer even though a bucket by Gabriele Benetti had made it 48-53 with still 8 minutes to go.
