Ulm too much for ALBA, gets first win

U18 ratiopharm Ulm secured its first victory of the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament Munich by rolling past fellow German side U18 ALBA Berlin 78-94 in Group B. Timo Lanmueller scored 21 points to pace four Ulm players in double figures. Adam Krasovec added 17 points, Andrija Grbovic had 16 and Aleksa Bulajic chipped in 10 points as Ulm improved to 1-1. ALBA dropped to 1-1 despite Malte Delow scoring 20 points, Nolan Adekunle tallying 14 and Elias Roedl hitting for 13 points.

Ulm jumped on ALBA right away with a 1-13 run as Krasovec hit 6 points. Erik Penteker finally hit ALBA’s first basket with back-to-back three-pointers and Adekunle and Friedrich Feldrappe both hit from long range as well in a 16-2 run to go ahead 17-15. And the game was even 20-20 after 10 minutes. Ulm went back in front, and after Adekunle and Roedl both nailed three-balls to keep ALBA close, a 0-10 run put Ulm up 29-44. The margin was 36-48 at the break, and the Ulm three-point barrage continued in the third quarter with Grbovic and Lanmueller both hitting from downtown in a 3-15 surge to pull ahead 39-63. ALBA scored the final 7 points of the third quarter to cut the gap to 55-71 after 30 minutes. ALBA was able to fight back to within 67-80 and it was 74-87 late in the game, before a 0-7 Ulm final punchout.
