Oliver Baskets Wuerzburg remained alive in the race to reach the Last 16 thanks to a record-setting shooting performance from long range in winning 71-82 against BC Azovmash Mariupol in Group D. Wurzburg made 14-of-26 three pointers, but it was Alex King, who made all 7 of his long balls without a miss that set the competition record for the most accurate three-point shooting night by a player in Eurocup history. He led all scorers with 21 points. Lamont McIntosh added 12 points and Oliver Clay scored 10 points for the German guests, who improved to 3-2. Azovmash dropped to 0-5 in the group despite 17 points from Oleksandr Kolchenko, 15 points from Lynn Greer and 14 from Oleksiy Pecherov.

King made three straight three-pointers to open a 1-9 lead and a Jimmy McKinney triple made it double digits for the first time at 4-14. Simonas Serapinas knocked down a long ball for the hosts to cut the gap to 11-18 but Christoph Henneberger answered with a three-ball of his own to re-establish the 10-point lead. The hosts fought back, including a Pecherov three-pointer and Mariupol trailed 23-27 after one quarter. s.Oliver Baskets continued its hot shooting to expand the lead in the second quarter as King nailed his fourth and fifth three-pointers and McIntosh and Dwayne Anderson were also on target from outside in pushing the cushion to 34-45. Bogdan Baida countered with a triple of his own but the guests led 37-50 at the break.

Kolchenko hit a three-pointer early in the second half and Greer’s free throws cut the deficit to 45-50. Anderson finally got Wurzburg on the scoreboard after nearly five minutes into the third quarter. Pecherov drained a long ball but Clay came right back at the other end with a three-point play to make it 50-57. Kolchenko’s three-point play pulled the hosts within 57-60 but Henneberger nailed another triple as s.Oliver was up 57-63 after three quarters. Azovmash cut it to four points but the guests went on a shooting spree again with McKinney knocking down two long balls, John Little hitting one and King’s sixth triple give the German side a 65-79 lead with less than three minutes to play. The margin was 10 points with a minute left when King nailed his seventh three-pointer with 26 seconds remaining to ice the game.
