JSF Nanterre knocks down 14 threes in rout of Bonn

Terrance Campbell and Hugo Invernizzi knocked down 5 three-pointers apiece to lead JSF Nanterre to a 101-78 rout of Telekom Baskets Bonn. Campbell totaled 21 points and 6 assists and Invernizzi scored 18 in a victory that ensured Nanterre will sit among the top half of Group A at the midway point of the regular season at 3-2. Bonn slipped to 2-3. The game was close for most of the first half, but Nanterre pulled away with an 11-0 run to start the second half and never looked back. A 10-0 fourth-quarter run made it 88-57 as Nanterre cruised to victory. Mykal Riley added 16 points for Nanterre, Jeremy Nzeulie scored 12 and Mam Jaiteh and Fernando Reposo had 10 each. Dirk Madrich led Bonn with 16 points, Michal Chylinski scored 11 and Xavier Silas 10.

Madrich started things with a triple for Bonn. After Jaiteh got Nanterre going, Madrich scored 5 straight points. Riley helped the hosts close the gap, but Tadas Klimavicius kept Bonn on top. Rotnei Clarke’s free throws boosted Bonn’s advantage to 16-21 after 10 minutes. Gerald Beverly put Bonn up by 7 to start the second quarter, but Nanterre reeled off 12 unanswered points to take control. Jaiteh scored twice and Invernizzi drained a pair of triples in that run. Invernizzi boosted the difference to 33-26 with four minutes left in the half. Clarke’s three-point play and Eugene Lawrence’s jumper closed the gap to 1, but another Invernizzi triple and 4 free throws by Nzeulie helped Nanterre to a 43-37 halftime lead.

Nanterre looked to ice the game with an 11-0 start to the second half in which Campbell scored twice and Nzeulie nailed a three-pointer. Jimmy McKinney’s triple ended Bonn’s drought at four minutes, but Nanterre’s guards also heated up from downtown. Chylinski hit a pair of threes for Bonn and Campbell did the same for Nanterre to make it 66-47. Reposo’s put-back stretched the difference into the 20s and Madrich could only lower the difference to 73-55 through three quarters. Campbell’s fifth triple started the fourth quarter as Nanterre looked to put the game out of reach. Riley and Invernizzi added back-to-back threes in a 10-0 run that made it 88-57. The outcome was long clear by that point as Nanterre celebrated a crucial win.

DONNADIEU, PASCAL
JSF Nanterre
"We played a good game and got a collective win where every player contributed with his qualities. It was hard to keep the point difference, but we know that the point average is very important in this European competition."
FISCHER, MATHIAS
Telekom Baskets Bonn
"Congratulations to Nanterre, who played an excellent game. We were not able to stop them and we made big mistakes in defense. We knew that Nanterre was aggressive, but my players were physically and mentally not ready to play the game after a tough one in Berlin."
