The last game of Day 1 in the Nike International Junior Tournament saw Zalgiris Kaunas beat Cajasol Andalucia 90-66 in the 2nd game of Group B on Thursday evening in Paris, France. Zalgiris grabbed a double-digit lead with an 11-0 run to cap the first quarter, and never allowed Cajasol to danger its lead, which extended to over 20 in the second half. Dovydas Redikas led the winners with 19 points in 22 minutes, Edgaras Ulanovas added 15, Egidijus Mockevicius scored 12 while Vytenis Cizauskas and Tomas Lekunas had 11 each. Gabriel Darin led Cajasol with 21 points and Pape Amadou added 15. Tomorrow Zalgiris will take on Union Olimpija in a battle between the two winners of the first day while Cajasol will look for its first victory against INSEP.

Zalgiris wasted no time and took an early 8-2 with easy close range points. Cajasol collected points to write a 10-7 score, but saw its opponent answer with 11 points in a row, to hold a 14 point lead after 10 minutes, 21-7. Mockevicius and Ulanovas maintained Zalgiris' lead but saw Amadu carry Cajasol by himself, back to 38-29 with 2 minutes to play in the first half. Ulanovas set things straight for his side and by half time the gap was back to 17 with Zalgiris scoring the last 8 points before the break. Cizauskas and Lekunas kept the good momentum going for Zalgiris as the gap crossed the 20 point barrier. Darin scored in various ways, but it wasn't enough to jeopardy the lead created earlier by Zalgiris, which continued to hold a comfortable lead until the last buzzer when the 24 point difference told the story.
