Cibona Zagreb is one the verge of making it to the title game at the Torneo Città di Roma after pulling out a crucial 68-64 win over Armani Junior Milan on Saturday. Cibona, which led for majority of the game behind a huge game by Bruno Skokna, improves to 2-0 in the first place of Group B, meanwhile, Milan is 1-1 and eliminated from the race for a place in Sunday’s finals. Cibona stormed out of the gate to 11-2 lead with Skokna and Leon Tomic on fire early. Milan rallied behind Giosue Hamadi and Andrea Pecchia, before Alberto Cacace basket-plus foul cut it to 29-27 midway through the second. But Cibona went on another big run before halftime, sparked by Luka Obrvan sinking a triple before Skokna scored 9 points, including a three-pointer. A basket from Tomic gave Cibona 45-31 halftime advantage, and the Croatian side kept a double digit margin in the third quarter with baskets from Obrvan and Skokna, 56-41. However, Milan's defense kept Cibona without a field goal for more than 7 minutes at end the third and beginning of the fourth quarter. Meanwhile Andrea Picarelli nailed a triple as Pecchia and Hamadi were leading a 2-17 run, eventually tying the game at 58-58. Another triple from Picarelli and a layup from Lorenzo Restelli put Milan in its first, and only lead, 62-63, however that was the last field goal Cibona allowed. Skokna and Antun Maricevic hit shots, and Tomic sealed the deal with free throws. Skokna finished with 26 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Tomic had 15 points plus 9 rebonds, Luka Obrvan netted 10 while Maricevic collected 8 points plus 11 rebounds. Hamadi scored 19 for Milan, Pecchia bagged 12, and Cacace 10 points in defeat.
