PGE Turow Zgorzelec moved into the top half of the Group I standings with a 66-42 win over SIG Strasbourg on Tuesday in Poland. Turow joins EiffelTowers Den Bosch and Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem at 2-1 in the tough group. A big offensive night from David Logan, a well-rounded performance by Marko Scekic and a good team effort on defense allowed Turow to hold off Strasbourg for the win. Turow visits Unics Kazan next week, while Strasbourg, which dropped to 1-2, hosts EiffelTowers. The game was tied 23-23 midway through the second period, but Turow scored 11 straight to finish the second period and continued to pull away in the third. The defense never let up, even when the game was decided, holding Strasbourg to 8 fourth-quarter points to seal the win. Logan led the winning effort with 18 points, Andres Rodriguez scored 13 and dished 4 assists, Scekic had 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals and Thomas Kelati added 11 points. John McCord and Derrick Obasohan led Strasbourg with 8 points apiece, while Sanya Giffa added 7 points and 9 rebounds.

Strasbourg struck first through an Obasohan basket, but a pair of Logan triples put the hosts on top early. Giffa kept the visitors involved and Afik Nissim free throws put Strasbourg back on top late in the first quarter, which ended 13-14. Logan and Rodriguez stepped up for an 8-0 run to put Turow up 23-18, but big Aaron Pettway soon tied the score. However that triggered Turow's big run, as five different players scored during an 11-0 charge to finish the half with a promising 34-23 advantage. The hosts protected their lead as the third period begun and Rodriguez even increased it to 16 midway through the period. Giffa and Nissim tried to ignite the Strasbourg attack, but Turow remained up 47-34 heading into the fourth quarter. Rodriguez opened the last period with a three and Logan soon added one from downtown as the lead reached 17 and Strasbourg started to look finished. Slobodan Ljobotina's three-point play put the hosts up 59-38 as the outcome became clear. Kelati hit a three and then free throws to give Turow its biggest lead, 66-42, in the final minute as the hosts celebrated a big home win.

"Thanks to my players for such a result. We played very good offense and defense. We made lots of great counter-attacks. Many rebounds, aggressive play and our trademark defense was the key to the win. We have many problems with injures, but I hope that Kitzinger and Petrovic will come back to us soon."
GIRARD, ERIC
Strasbourg
"The second quarter was our death. Turow played very hard defense in this quarter and they had a great offense. We stopped leading in the beginning and that was bad for us. We had a bad day today. There are not many individual players in Turow and that's the reason why they are so good."

"We played very good offense today and defense. We had a very lucky day. Thats why we didn't miss so much shoots. Everyone was hoping that we won and we did it. It's great."
PETTWAY, AARON
Strasbourg
"We had too many turnovers in first half and that certainly didn't help us to win. Turow had very good offense and defense. We also gave the max in offense but it wasn't enough to win this game. I think It was quite interesting to play against those guys."
