KK Buducnost moved into a tie for the Group E lead after topping Hapoel Galil Elyon 93-68 in Podgorica, Montenegro, on Tuesday night. Buducnost improved its record to 3-1, the same as Triumph Lyubertsy. Next up for Buducnost is a visit to Swans Gmunden. Galil dropped to 1-3 in the group and hosts Benetton Fribourg next week. It was an up-and-down game, as Buducnost started the game 26-3 and seemed in total control before Gaili's zone defense got the visitors back by the end of the third period. However Galil ran out of energy and Buducnost used a 22-3 run over the last seven minutes to put the game away for good. Bojan Bakic scored 17 points to lead five scorers in double digits for Buducnost. Big man Vladislav Dragojlovic and Vladimir Micov contributed 13 points each and Nikola Otasevic added 10 points, dished 5 assists and stole 4 balls. Clif Brown led Galil with 23 points and Gili Mossinson added 16.

Buducnost got off to a great start and led 26-3 after seven minutes. The hosts full-court pressure forced Galil to make a lot of mistakes the visitors' first points didn't come until the fifth minute. Nemanja Gordic and Nenad Mijatovic hit triple to make it 34-11 after 10 minutes. Galil answered in the second with good zone defense and it locked down the paint. Mossinson and Brown led the charge as Galil cut the deficit from 20 to 9 points with a 4-15 run. Ivan Maras and Gordic broke that series with free throws before Vladimir Dragicevic picked up a steal and slam. Gordic hit three pointers that made it 46-34 by halftime. Galil continued its effective zone in the second half and Brown and Doron Sheffer dominated on offense as the visitors got back within 60-54. However that's when head coach Eli Kanneti's side ran out of steam. Buducnost used a 22-3 run over the last seven minutes to put the game away for good.

Head Coaches

RADONJIC, DEJAN
Buducnost
"I am very satisfied with this victory and I want to congratulate all my players for it. They played a great game against a more experienced team. Our defense was the decisive factor. I insisted that we played serious until the end of the game because we need a bigger difference. It is possible that the number of points could decide something at the end of this Group E competition."
KANETI, ELIOT
Hapoel Galil Elyon
"First thing after the game that I said to the home coach was that they played great defense, one of the best that I ever played against, and forced us for more then 20 turnovers. Their offense was also a big problem for us during the game. That was key reason why we lost the game. It is impossible to play with so many turnovers and they play very aggressive defense. At the beginning of last quarter, we started with three or four mistakes in the row, giving them the ball to run with, and it was the reason why we lost the game. Simply, they played the best defense that I have seen in these four ULEB Cup games."

Players

POPOVIC, MARKO
Buducnost
"We opened this game very good. With great defense, we managed to get a big advantage and to save it until the last period, although they made a lot of trouble for us with their zone defense. In the last quarter, we played even stronger in defense and celebrated a convincing victory."
SHEFFER, DORON
Hapoel Galil Elyon
As our coach said, their defense was the key that allowed them to win. We didn’t manage to answer them in way that we want, with aggressiveness. But at the end of third period, we got back into the game and played much better. In last quarter, we continued to lose more balls, giving them too many easy points, and it was impossible to win the game. For us, it is a good lesson to see our weaknesses and to learn from that. And for me, personally, it is good to see a team that consists only of local players, with no Americans, to play well, play together like the good old way of Yugoslavia. I wish them the best of luck."
