Doron Perkins scored 17 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter, leading Besiktas Integral Forex Istanbul to 71-57 win over Panionios Athens on Wednesday. Win improves Besiktas to 3-1 in a share of the top spot in Group H, while Panions drops to 2-2 in a share of the third place. The hosts had a double-digit lead in the second quarter, but Panionios rallied, tying it to 47-47 late in the fourth quarter, but there was no stopping Perkins in the final 10 minutes, as Beskitas pulled away behind his baskets. Alongside Perkins, Bradley Buckman collected 14 points plus 7 rebounds in victory, while Chris Lofton finished with 12. For Panionios, Errick McCollum scored 22, and Landon Milbourne had 14.
The visitors grabbed 8-12 early lead with Milbourne and McCollum scoring all the points, but Buckman and Colton Iverson sparked a 10-0 run, and Lofton scored 8 points before the end of the quarter for the hosts to hold 21-15 after 10 minutes. Caner Topaloglu opened the second with a three-pointer, and a dunk from Iverson extended it to 26-15. Kevin Langford and Marc Carter with a triple helped cut it to 29-26, before teams traded baskets until the halftime buzzer, and Perkins’ layup for 36-31 at the break. Bradley scored couple of baskets from close range at the start of the third quarter, and Besiktas opened 42-34 lead, but McCollum strung together 8 points, including a triple that was followed by a triple from Marc Carter, helping tie it at 47-47 late in the third quarter. But at the start of the fourth, Perkins scored 8 straight points, including a basket-plus-foul and a three-pointer for 56-51. McCollum kept Panionios briefly within a single possession, but Pekins was unstoppable in the remaining time, scoring 9 more points, and almost single-handedly led the hosts to victory.
